Biography

Chao Sun is a Professor and New Cornerstone Investigator at Tsinghua University, affiliated with the Center for Combustion Energy in the Department of Energy and Power Engineering, as well as the College of Aerospace Engineering. He also holds a part-time professorship at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

Dr. Sun received his PhD from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006 and was a faculty member at Twente from 2009 to 2015 before joining Tsinghua University as a full professor.

His research focuses on multiphase flows, turbulence, bubbles and droplets, and heat and mass transfer.

He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, an Xplorer Prize recipient, and a New Cornerstone Investigator from the Tencent Foundation.

Dr. Sun serves as an associate editor of Physical Review Fluids and is on the editorial boards of Experiments in Fluids, Acta Mechanica Sinica, and other journals. He has also served as a governing board member of the International Conference on Multiphase Flow and as a committee member for the APS-DFD Frenkiel Award.
